Cough

Cough is the commonest sign and symptom of respiratory disease and virtually everyone on the planet suffers a clinical cough at least once a year. It is the most frequent complaint to be dealt with by general practitioners. Until the last decade or so cough as been a clinical problem, lacking in research due to the apparent insignificance of the subject. However, in recent years, the pharmaceutical industry has woken up to the sales potential of anti-tussive drugs and products, and there has been a surge of interest and research into the mechanism, pharmacology and therapy of cough.
